My cell phone vibrate and keypad light features failed, so I got a new phone for free. Most important information got saved, but today I noticed another area of difficulty. I was making memos in the phone to indicate things that needed to be researched and written up. These memos didn’t get transferred to the new phone.
Eventually I will recall the missing memos, but today I already started making new ones. We’ll see if I can get them all in the blog.

Nah, I had him in the car with me. I’m getting a lot of telemarketing and related type calls. “They” are using dialers which call a number, if there’s an answer, will transfer the call to an available operator. If there’s not one available, there’s empty air space for the callee, a delay, then a message to wait for the next available person. If you hang up, the dialers are programmed to call you back, some immediately, some in a preset time frame. And they keep calling… Very irritating and annoying.
Matt was having a similar issue over the weekend with text messaging. He doesn’t use, doesn’t want it, and gets mad if people text him. During the movie this weekend, he kept receiving text messages for stock tips…probably close to 10 give or take a couple. Since he didn’t subscribe to it, he couldn’t unsubscribe. He was going to take it to Verizon and raise holy hell about it. I haven’t heard what the final outcome is.
There are laws currently in place that prohibit cellphone carriers from publishing cellphone numbers. It is not illegal for 3rd parties to publish or make them public. It was all over the news a few weeks ago. A local company gets data from all over…let’s say you purchase something over the internet and provide your phone number, give your phone number when you’re shopping at a store, etc., that company can ‘rent’ (essentially sell, but it’s called “renting data”) any information they have on you and THAT company can publish or sell any information pertaining to you. Even if you’re like me, and pay to have your phone numbers unpublished.

I forgot to mention that in the State of Washington, telemarketers and bill collectors can call from 8:00am – 9:00pm, so often these calls will continue throughout the entire day and into the evening. Nice, huh!
I’m not quite quite how telemarketers can get around the whole “Do Not Call” registry, but often the calls come from say a credit card company or some other company the callee is already doing business with. That’s allowable, but ones you’ve never done business with before…that’s a whole different ballgame.
