It Was Here Again!

After the two first earthquakes shook things up here I headed for a first birthday party. The birthday boy is the son of a Bolivian man and a Japanese woman. Conversation at the party was a mix of Japanese, English, Spanish, and Portuguese (Brazilian guests came, too.) We had a good time and ate a lot of tasty food.

While we were packing things in we had another strong quake. Normally I find quakes entertaining, but being in a parking lot with small children really changes the experience. Fortunately it didn’t last very long, but I noticed that the feeling of a strong, short quake is similar to a bomb explosion. Perhaps that’s why kids find it so scary.

Also, watching the news it was weird to see video of my neighborhood. Anyhow, I’m still in good shape.
