Dream Lifter Sighting

Last night, as we were coming in for a landing at Centrair (中部国際空港:NGO) – aka, Chubu Kokusai Airport – aka, Nagoya International Airport – I saw an enormous plane that looked like a beluga whale at the end of the airfield.

Today it was very easy to figure out what kind of plane it was because, coincidentally The Seattle Times had an article on the Dreamliner 787 airplane. The plane I saw is called the Dreamlifter and is a 747-400, known as the 747LCF, that was specially modified to transport parts of the 787 from around the world. Wings for the 787 are made nearby and are shipped out of Centrair on the Dreamlifter.

This blog has some excellent shots of it on its first visit to Centrair before it got the current sexy paint job.
