Suffering Demotion

Since my former bosses started stirring up trouble for me I have noticed my position in society has changed. When there is a party or banquet, where each person sits and what they are responsible is determined by their status. Formerly I was almost always treated as a special guest; however, in their circles I think those days have ended.

Last night I was invited to a ‘dinner party’ and asked to arrive at 5pm. The guests arrived around 6:30 or 7:00pm. Reflecting back on the evening I think I was invited early to learn my responsiblities. Several times during the evening I was criticized for not keeping the stove stoked hot enough, not keeping everyone’s beers topped off, and not cooking enough atsuage for everyone. I had a good time, but realize that I am treated differently.

Now, I just have to figure out if I have been moved to an inside circle or if I have suffered demotion. Perhaps, being given all these responsibilities is a sign of trust that I know what I’m doing. I could research a little to find out, or just keep trying to convince myself this is good.
