Happy Armistice Day

Happy Veterans Day. Thank a veteran today for his or her sacrifice and service for our country. Pray for armistice in current conflicts around the world.

Today I thought I would put another boring chemical post. Jikurorometan – pronounced something like ‘G coo row row may tawn’ with a pause between the rows – made the news lately. Fortunately my dictionary helped me out because the word was baffling me; particularly the pause between the rows. Often non-Japanese words spelled phonetically have very strange points of emphasis or accent.

This one turned out to be Di-chloro-methane; discovered in a new neighborhood. The news story was about putting in a venting system with flares.
